Jeff Kinney (Full Name: Jeffrey Patrick Kinney) is a popular American author and cartoonist well known as the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. He also founded the child-oriented website Poptropica which includes two islands titled “Wimpy Wonderland” and “Wimpy Boardwalk”, where the Diary of a Wimpy Kid characters and happenings are presented in the Poptropica universe.
By 2020, more than 250 million models of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books have retailed globally and the series became evolved into feature movies for which Jeff worked as executive producer. Jeff supports that children should spend time reading as an alternative to screen time. Besides, Jeff also guest-hosted 10 episodes of the 10th season of WGBH local quiz bowl production High School Quiz Show while frequent host Billy Costa was away on a special assignment.

In February 2006, at the New York Comic Con, he registered a multi-book deal alongside publisher Harry N. Abrams, Inc., to turn Diary of a Wimpy Kid into a print series.

When several online readers ordered a printed version, Jegg agreed, and in April 2007, Diary of a Wimpy Kid became released.
