Previously, Kayla was working for WJHG as a morning anchor and a fill-in reporter in Panama City before joining WAVY News in April 2018.

Smoot was awarded by the Emmy award for ” A Real Horse Whisperer “, for providing the coverage of Monthy Roberts, who helped to reform horse training with his non-violent methods. Previously, she was working at a FOX owned station in Winston-Salem, in North Carolina as the five, six, and ten p.m news anchor before joining WTVT in 1997.

He works in various capacities in the world of public history such as museums, boards, historical societies, and colleges. Douglas has received seven honorary doctorates in American studies and was given the honors of editing the presidential diaries of Ronald Reagan in 2011 by Nancy Reagan.
