Zach Weinersmith (Full Name: Zachary Alexander Weinersmith) is a popular American cartoonist and writer, well known due to his webcomic Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (SMBC). Besides SMBC, Zach is the co-author of four books, a sketch comedy series, a podcast, as well as many other webcomics.

His debut version of SMBC was a character-based three-panel strip done while Zach was in college. This version of the comic featured the romantic and academic endeavors of many college students. This version (regarded as Classic SMBC on the site’s archives) appeared from January 28, 2002, until September 3, 2002. Zach later shifted to single-panel and gag comics. The present version of the strip started on September 5, 2002.

In 2005, Zach wanted to serve on SMBC full-time, and around this time shifted to daily updates. In 2007, Zach was able to get a living from the comic.
