After working at Lansing’s CBS station as an anchor and reporter, Taryn then moved to ABC 12 where she met her husband Jason Carr. While there, she served as an anchor and reporter.
Taryn later joined Fox 2 in 2007 where she covered a bit of everything ranging from Presidents and politics to the most dangerous crimes as well as taking those who are responsible. She has obtained 4 Emmy Awards and several awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as well as the Associated Press. Taryn believes in giving back to the community and is glad to be able to teach her daughter how important it is. In addition, she actively supports various organizations including American Heart Association, Detroit Dog Rescue, COTS Homeless Shelter, Jackets For Jobs, and many others.

In July 2017, while Taryn was on a vacation up north, she thought she had food poisoning and went to Urgent Care where they confirmed she was indeed right. She continued with her daily routine, hitting the gym and even working on July 4, 2017. However, the following morning Taryn woke up with a fever and went to her doctor. She was rushed straight to the ER where it was discovered that she was bleeding internally after a cyst rapture.
The doctors found two liters of blood and had to undergo emergency surgery and two blood transfusions. Thankfully, Taryn recovered and was discharged the next day. As if it were not enough, she noticed swelling on her arm which she feared could be a blood clot. After a doctor’s visit, it was confirmed that it was a blood clot and after additional tests, it was discovered that she had pericarditis, an inflammation of the tissue around the heart that is caused by a random virus.
