At the age of 55 years old, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer a week after Thanksgiving in 2019. This was after his PSA numbers were high after engaging in an annual physical activity in early November 2019. As a result, Sheldon’s primary care doctor, Michael Luther, scheduled a biopsy on November 27, 2019, and the results came out positive for prostate cancer. Sheldon was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, three weeks after he tested positive for prostate cancer.
He started taking medications to combat Crohn’s and was later scheduled for prostate cancer surgery on February 20, 2020. Sheldon was set to begin treatment for Crohn’s after 6-8 weeks of undergoing surgery. He shared the story through the WBRC website since his physical changes were notable and he wants to encourage people to have prostrate screening for early detection of cancer.
