Rita Braver ( Full name Rita Lynn Braver ) is an American journalist and a television news correspondent. She currently working with CBS News. Rita is best known for her investigative journalism of White House scandals including the Iran-Contra affair. From 1983 to 93, Rita served as CBS News’s chief law correspondent.

While there, she broke the story of the John Walker spy ring, and also the story of another spy, Jonathan Pollard. Additionally, Rita led CBS’s new team in the coverage of the Iran-Contra affair. During Bill Clinton’s first term as the US President, Rita served as CBS’s chief White House correspondent. Since 1998, she has been serving as the chief national correspondent for Sunday Morning. Before joining “CBS Sunday Morning,” Rita spent four years as CBS News chief White House correspondent.

She held the role from 1993 to 1997. While there, Rita covered a broad range of foreign as well as domestic issues. She as well-traveled the world on the White House beat for former US president Bill Clinton through his re-election campaign. Rita also served as a floor reporter at the Democratic Convention. She was a frequent guest and the guest host of “Face the Nation.” while covering the White House.

All through, Rita has won nine national Emmy Awards, one for her investigative reporting and two for her coverage of the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. She won the Joan Barone Award from the Congressional Radio and Television Correspondents Association. Also, Rita won the Star award from American Women in Radio and television. The National Mother’s Day Committee named her an Outstanding Mother.
