He is thrilled to use his knowledge of hurricanes, Hampton Roads weather patterns, and the local geography to assist keep the community safe and informed. Ricky has vivid memories of the impacts of Hurricane Isabel in 2003, the April 2011 tornadoes as well as the November Nor’easter in 2009. In June of 2012, Ricky viewed a tornado crossing the James River and impacting Downtown Hampton. Ricky was downtown shortly after, witnessing the damage firsthand.
Besides weather, his other passion is aviation. Ricky has been a private pilot for more than 10 years, having learned from his Grandfather who spent 30 years in the USAF flying F-4s during Vietnam. He loves to watch airplanes fly, so there’s a good chance you may find Ricky near an airport or at the Oceana airshow each year.
