George Stephanopoulos This Week

In 2005,  ABC News executives reportedly offered former Nightline anchor Ted Koppel the This Week host job after the program’s ratings become a regular third-, fourth-, and sometimes fifth-place finish following tough competition from Fox, NBC, as well as CBS syndicated programs. The debate was between the then Illinois Senator Barack Obama and New York Senator Hillary Clinton who were running for the 2008 election cycle. Although the debate received record ratings, the co-moderators were heavily criticized because the first hour of the debate, focused most on controversies that occurred during the campaign instead of focusing on issues such as the Iraq War and the economy. George later acknowledged the legitimacy of the concerns over the order of the questions. However, he said that there were issues in the campaign that had not been covered in previous debates.
