Those channels include WNKY based in Bowling Green, WYMT based in Hazard, as well as WVLT based in Knoxville, TN. She was formerly known as Emily McKinney. Emily is a local girl who was born and raised in the Bluegrass! Mt. Vernon is her hometown and she is now a member of the StormTracker weather team. You can always watch Emily on WLEX/LEX 18 every Saturday and Sunday evening. Since she was growing up, Emily knew that she wanted to be a meteorologist. However, there was no specific event that led to her pursuing weather.
Emily earned her Bachelors’s degree from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky before she headed to Mississippi State University for her Masters’s degree in Geosciences with an emphasis in Broadcast Meteorology. While in Mississippi, Emily spent some of her leisure time storm-chasing in Dixie Alley. She was also a member of the 3-year winning forecasting competition team at State. The team prepared Emily for what she does daily now.
