Doug McKelway ( Full name: Douglas B. McKelway) is an American television journalist. He currently serves as a host on TBN. Formerly, Doug served as a general assignment reporter for the Washington, D.C. bureau of the Fox News Channel. He became part of the network’s news team in November 2010. Before joining Fox News Channel, Doug worked at an ABC affiliate,  WJLA-TV based in Washington, D.C.

His first tv news job was in Charlotte, North Carolina where Doug worked at WPCQ-TV ( currently known as WCNC-TV). He served the network from 1980 to 1982. Also, Doug worked in Kansas, Missouri, and Florida prior to returning to Washington. He served as a reporter and news anchor at WRC-TV until October 2001, when he became part of the WJLA-TV news team.

Doug is a Washington D.C. native. His father, William Prentiss McKelway worked as an obstetrician and a clinical professor at George Washington University Hospital. His grandfather named Benjamin M. McKelway worked as an editor of the Washington Evening Star newspaper as well as the President of the Associated Press. Doug is a Skidmore College graduate.

In March 2022, Axios reported that Doug was tapped by the Christian Trinity Broadcasting Network to anchor its new program called “Centerpoint.” Dought had formerly announced his retirement from the industry back in September 2020. The program covers the news of the day and other stories such as presumably through a Christian, conservative lens.

It airs every weekday at 7:30 pm, with a rebroadcast later in the evening. As he became the face of “Centerpoint” for TBN, Doug joined producer Michael Clemente, former Newsmax CEO, and Fox News EVP of News. Nate Daniels told Axios that the goal of TBN is to create a “Christian lifestyle brand,” rather than just a network known for “preaching and teaching.” TBN launched the new show with Doug in March 2022.

By then, he was serving as co-host of Washington, DC’s Let’s Talk Live on local cable’s TBD TV ( previously News Channel 8). During the interview, the two discussed Rogers’ efforts to “out” secretly gay politicians who were opposing gay rights. At one point,  Doug told Rogers, “I’d take you outside and give you a punch across the face… I think you’re hurting innocent people.”

In July 2010, Doug gave live coverage for the noon newscast. The coverage was about a rally by religious and environmental groups who protested BP’s response to the Gulf oil spill. He made comments regarding BP’s contributions to former USA Democratic President Barack Obama. After the broadcast, Doug met with WJLA Station Manager Bill Lord. Bill objected to the BP contribution facts being divulged in the live report.

After a heated exchange between the two, Doug was suspended from his reporting duties and anchoring the early-morning Good Morning, Washington news show. Later, on September 17, 2010, The Washington Post reported that Doug had been dismissed. From there, he was hired by Fox News Channel as their reporter. He worked for Fox until  Sep 2020 when he announced his retirement.
