Aled Jones is a Welsh tv & radio presenter and singer. Currently, he serves as a presenter on Classic FM. He reached widespread fame during the mid-1980s when he was a teenage chorister. Since then, Aled has worked in television with the BBC and ITV, and on the radio (for Classic FM).

He became famous for the cover version of “Walking in the Air”, the song from Channel 4’s animated film The Snowman. It is based on the book authored by Raymond Briggs. In 1985, the record reached No. 5 in the UK charts. Although it is often reported that Aled sang the version used in the 1982 film, it was actually performed by a St. Paul’s Cathedral choirboy called Peter Auty.
Aled was the subject of an Emmy Award-winning BBC Omnibus documentary titled The Treble in 1985. He was behind Santa Claus The Movie alongside the National Philharmonic Orchestra, original motion picture soundtrack, Every Christmas Eve of 1985. Aled was called by Mike Oldfield in 1985 to sing on Oldfield’s single “Pictures in the Dark”, a three-voice song. He performed with Anita Hegerland and Barry Palmer. Their performance became fairly popular.
Aled sang the theme song for the Siriol Animation film A Winter Story in 1986. The song was a modest success after reaching number 51 on the UK Singles Chart. His recording career was temporarily halted after his voice broke at the age of 16. By then, Aled had recorded 16 albums. He had sold more than six million copies. Also, He had sung for Pope John Paul II, the Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales in a private recital.

Currently, he serves as a presenter on Classic FM. Aled joined the BBC in 2006 taking over from Don Maclean on Good Morning Sunday on BBC Radio 2. Also, he served as a presenter of Friday Night is Music Night. Aled had been a regular stand-in presenter for Sarah Kennedy and Ken Bruce on Radio 2 until he left Radio 2 in 2012. He presents programs for BBC Radio 3, such as Choir of the Year and Young Chorister of the Year.

Aled was being investigated by the BBC in November 2017 following allegations of inappropriate behavior. In the interim, Aled had agreed to withdraw from programs. In January 2018, it was confirmed that the BBC had lifted the suspension and that Aled would resume presenting programs.
He was a regular reporter for Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, broadcast on BBC Two in 2015. Aled has co-presented the daily magazine show called Too Much TV, for BBC Two since February 2016. Also, he has presented a daytime program for BBC One called Going Back Giving Back since 2016. Aled appeared on the judging panel for the Pride of Britain awards twice. He was confirmed on May 4, 2012, as the new presenter of the ITV Breakfast program Daybreak with Lorraine Kelly and Kate Garraway. Aled took over from Adrian Chiles.[11] On 3 March 2014. It was announced on March 3, 2014, that Daybreak was to be replaced by a new breakfast program called Good Morning Britain, which Aled would not be a part of. His last episode aired on April 25, 2014. The following day, he started hosting Weekend, broadcast every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8:30 am. Aled has presented the annual Christmas Carols on the ITV program since 2012. The show airs late on Christmas Eve.
