Ted Haggard is a renowned American evangelical pastor. He is the initiator and former pastor of New Life Church based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is also a creator of the Association of Life-Giving Churches. From 2003 until November 2006, Ted worked as President of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE).
Ted made national headlines in November 2006 when male prostitute and masseur Mike Jones alleged that Ted who had advocated against the legalization of same-sex marriage, had paid him for lovemaking for a period of three years and had also bought and used crystal methamphetamine. Following previous denying the allegations, Ted claimed to have bought methamphetamine and thrown it away without making use of it.
Ted stepped down his post at New Life Church and his other leadership works shortly after the allegations became public. Afterward, ted admitted to having used drugs, participated in some love-making activity with Jones, and took part in an inappropriate relationship with a young guy who attended New Life Church. In line with ted, in November 1984, when Ted was an associate pastor of Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ted’s confidant and mentor Danny Ost, a missionary to Mexico City, had a vision of ted founding his church in Colorado Springs. Therefore, ted moved to Colorado shortly later and initiated New Life Church. Originally, the 22 people who met in the basement of his house formed his church, which then rose to rented spaces in strip malls.
