Following graduating, Steve worked as the radio announcer for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos’ basketball and football teams plus hosting a local sports show on KTMS-AM 1260 in Santa Barbara, California until 1994. He returned to his hometown and was Employed by Andy Pollin at WTEM to do updates as a part-timer for Team Tickers over Summer 1994.
Following six months at ESPN Radio, Steve rejoined Pollin in 2000 for The Sports Reporters, which aired on Washington, D.C.-based WTEM. The two raised controversy in December 2012 when commenting on Gabrielle Ludwig then 50-year-old transgender Mission College basketball player. Those comments made the two become suspended.
Following a 13-year run, in July 2013, ESPN 980 reported that Pollin would be replaced as Steve’s co-host by previous Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley. Plus the leaving of Pollin, The Sports Reporters was stopped while the new show, The Drive with Cooley and Czabe, began on August 1, 2013, and comprised Al Galdi. Steve signed a three-year extension to proceed to host the show on January 6, 2014.
Following Yahoo Sports Radio was re-branded into SB Nation in August 2016, The Steve Czaban Show proceeded its morning time slot until September 19, 2016, when the audience was informed through his website that his contract was not renewed and the show was taken off the air. Steve abruptly quit in late October 2018, the Bob and Brian in the morning show on 102.9 the Hog in Milwaukee.
