Among other things, he had a discussion fostering public criticism of accused Richie Incognito, Miami Dolphins football player who was accused of bullying  Jonathan Martin, his teammate.

Although acknowledging his words at first would be seen as a misogynist, he was “so right,” Damon stated that “There are very few, a small handful, of women who are any good at this at all,” and proclaimed “you see, I’m willing to share my sandbox as long as you’re willing to remember: You’re in my box.”

Damon’s comments generated a storm of media controversy as well as public outcry. Damon came out to the couch because he didn’t want to bother his wife who was still sleeping. He felt the following morning that he did not want to prep his show, didn’t want to think about sports and get excited for the NFL Draft or anything like that, Damon had never felt that before. He also noticed something odd about his left hand as he tried to send an email to his program director about not feeling well.

While taking a shower the same morning, he noticed that his left hand had difficulties in scrubbing in the shampoo that it normally does. When his wife took him to the hospital, the doctors realized that Damon had suffered a stroke. On May 3, 2018, Damon wrote on his Twitter account stating: I had a stroke that scared the hell out of me. Quit chewing and fast food cold turkey. Haven’t had either in over a year now.
