Shirley Henry (also known as Shirley Henry) is an American journalist who is the Managing Editor for Content Talent Strategy and Development for NPR News. She is also known for being the wife of journalist Ed Henry. She came to NPR in September 2014 as a Senior Editor for the Washington Desk and served as Deputy Washington Editor from February 2015 to May 2019.
During that time, Shirley edited White House coverage and played a key role in helping shape the network’s 2016 election coverage and in the creation of the politics podcast. Prior to joining NPR, Shirley worked at CNN in a number of capacities, including producing shows, field producing, and managing coverage in CNN’s Washington Bureau.
