During his seven-year career from 1996 to 2002, Ray played for the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets. Currently, he serves as a studio analyst on New York City-based sports network SportsNet New York for the show Jets Nation.
Ray worked for several years for SportsNet New York as an analyst to Jets programs including pre-game and post-game shows. He as well did weekly updates prior to leaving the network in 2020. Ray joined the Rutgers Football Radio Network in 2019 as their color analyst. He held the role until 2021 when he became the coach of his home high school football team.
