On Monday, July 1, 2013, Peter was to join Salem Communications as the new morning host on News/Talk 710 KNUS for a 6 AM-9 AM time slot. However, he did not appear and this prompted speculation that his old employer KHOW had blocked his debut because of a non-compete contract clause. Peter’s’ show aired for the first time on 710 KNUS on July 3, 2013, at 6:00 am.
On January 6, 2014, the show was extended by one hour, starting at 5:00 am and running until 9:00 am. Previously, KNUS had weak audience ratings for its morning shows compared to KHOW. However, during the first month of Peter’s show at KNUS, he beat his former employer KHOW in audience ratings for the morning slot.

After “the most expensive DNA test in Colorado history” exonerated Karr, Peter was vindicated. Peter sparked controversy in Colorado in February 2009, for repeatedly referring to Democratic U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette of Denver as “Vagina DeGette” / “Vagina DeJet” while on air. The journalist is a defender of the “birtherism” allegation against former US President Barack Obama. According to Peter, “Barack Obama’s life story is a fabrication.”
He was suspended from his KHOW show in May 2013 following a heated argument with the show’s longtime producer Greg Hollenback. Witnesses reported that Peter yanked Greg’s lanyard leaving red marks on Greg’s neck. On June 3, 2013, it was reported that Peter had been fired from the station even after a Colorado Observer editorial expressed that “Boyles is an important figure in our local media and, short of some new and terrible development that no one is reporting, Boyles should keep his job.”
