Matt Underwood is an American sportscaster. He currently serves as the tv play-by-play announcer of Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cleveland Indians. He joined the Indians broadcast team in 2000 on a full-time basis. Prior to that, Matt spent 10 good years working at WEWS-TV 5 based in Cleveland (ABC).
He became part of the WEWS as an associate sports producer immediately after he graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1990. In December 1994, Matt was named the sports producer and reporter by the network. At the same time, Matt worked for WKNR Radio as an update anchor and weekend show host (then at 1220 AM). After one year, he became the weekend sports anchor at News Channel 5.
In November 1996, Matt became the station’s sports directors well as weeknight 6 and 11 p.m. sports anchor. He held this role until 2000 when he was promoted to be a full-time member of the Indians’ broadcasting team.
