Matt Chandler is an American author and a lead teaching pastor of the Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas. He is also the President of Acts 29 Network, a global family of churches that follow Calvinist theology. As of August 2022, Matt had been on an indefinite leave of absence following an inappropriate online relationship with a woman who was not his spouse. Elders of the Village Church restored Matt as the lead Pastor on December 4, 2022. They prayed for him and affirmed his return to the pulpit.

Matt is currently serving as an elder and a lead teaching pastor of The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas. He joined the church in 2002, following a woman of his non-profit organization who asked him to submit his resume at Highland Village First Baptist Church ( now, The Village Church).
At the time, Matt had no expectations of securing the job because of conflicts in beliefs. However, he was offered a job which he accepted in 2002. While joining the Church, it had an attendance of approximately 160 people. Over a decade since Matt joined The Village Church, the number of attendees has grown to at least 14,000 attendees.
