Mahealani Richardson is an American anchor and reporter. She currently serves as a reporter and anchor at Hawaii News Now ( CBS Affiliate). Mahealani is well known for her outstanding presence on tv and also for her fabulous skills. Mahealani launched her career in the media industry in 1993. She started by working as an intern at Joan Rivers Show. Later, she served different channels such as KGMB-TV. In 2017, Mahealani became part of the Hawaii News Show team.
There, she now anchors the channel’s 6 pm and 6:30 pm newscasts Mahealani serves as a voice to the voiceless in the community, she leads in broadcast as well as digital journalism. Currently, Mahealani serves on the boards of Friends of Shriners and Ka Honua Momona on Molokai. She is humbled to be honored with Pacific Business News 2017 Women Who Mean Business Women to Watch.

For the past three years, Mahealani served as the director of communications as well as marketing for Shriners Hospitals for Children in Honolulu. Her role has been more rewarding than Mahealani ever imagined. Some of the highlights were: seeing physicians honored in the community, Giving Keiki opportunities to appear in the hospital’s award-winning local TV ads; and also landing patients’ appearances on Hawaii Five-0.
Mahealani did some moonlighting while working at Shriners Hospitals by hosting Insights on PBS Hawaii where she moderated forums for the Governors and Congressional races. Now that she has returned to the news, Mahealani came back to her TV ‘ohana. KGMB employed Mahealani as an associate producer right out of college at the University of Pennsylvania and following her internships at CBS News in New York and Philadelphia. Later, Mahealani was promoted to reporter and even worked with her current co-anchor, Keahi Tucker. They were both rookies and have come a long way since those early days.
Mahealani moved on to report at KGW based in Portland, Oregon, and later returned home to anchor the morning news at KITV for a period of eleven years. Her most memorable story was when she covered former USA President Obama’s first inauguration. She also interviewed Donald Trump, covered the Hokulea’s arrival in Easter Island, and also got up close to the lava at Kilauea.
