Jason Goodall is an American international sports broadcaster. He mostly specializes in tennis commentary and also serves as an ESPN analyst. In addition, Jason serves as a tennis coach. He has worked with some of the best players in the world. He is a former British number two professional tennis player. Jason began playing tennis in Zambia, Central Africa as young as nine years old.

Three years later, Jason returned to the UK and was chosen to represent Great Britain (under-12 level). He continued to do so throughout his junior career including, the under-21 level. In doubles at the under-14 European Championships, Jason became the silver medalist. He also went on to compete in all of the junior Grand Slam events in both singles and doubles on a number of occasions

He was given a wild card entry into the 1985 Wimbledon Championships at the age of 18 years. While there, Jason met seventh seed Joakim Nyström in the first round and was beaten by the Swede in four sets. The only other appearance that Jason made was in the singles draw at Wimbledon in 1988. He however lost in straight sets to an Italian qualifier called Diego Nargiso. From 1986 to 1990, Jason participated in the Wimbledon men’s doubles championships.

In 1987, Jason and his partner Peter Wright were doubles runner-up at the Dublin Challenger tournament. As a senior, Jason was ranked as high as British number two and was also the national senior doubles champion. In 1989, he was chosen to participate in the British team in two Davis Cup ties; away against Finland. In this one, Britain won 4–1, and at home against Argentina, in this, the hosts lost 3–2. Jason retired at the age of 21 due to a chronic elbow injury.

He turned to a coaching career thereafter ( but still played on the tour occasionally up until the 1990 Wimbledon Championships). He initially worked with 21-times Grand Slam doubles champion Pam Shriver who made the final of the US Open doubles in 1989 with Mary Joe Fernandez. However, she lost to Martina Navratilova and Hana Mandlíková 5–7, 6–4, 6–4. Later, Jason worked with former world number four Fernandez and coached her after making the singles and doubles finals at the Australian Open in 1990. Sadly, Fernandez was beaten by Steffi Graf 6–3, 6–4 in the singles.

Jason then worked with the best juniors in the country as a fully qualified coach both male and female. He as well oversaw their transition from the junior ranks to senior professionals. In 1995, they selected Jason as Great Britain’s Federation Cup coach. Addtionally, he worked with former world number four Tim Henman in the off-seasons at different stages throughout Henman’s career. He also traveled as his coach when his regular coach David Felgate was unavailable.
