Hoda Kotb is an Egyptian-American television personality, broadcast journalist, and author. Currently, she serves as the main co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today. Also, Hoda serves as a co-host of NBC’s entertainment-focused fourth hour. She formerly worked as a correspondent for Dateline NBC, the television news magazine program.
In 2002, Hoda won the Edward R. Murrow Award for her reporting. She won a Gracie Awards in 2003 and 2008. She won a Headliner Award in 2004 for Dateline NBC’s “Saving Dane – Adoptees Rage.” In 2006, Hoda won a Peabody Award for Dateline NBC’s “The Education of Ms. Groves,” and an additional Headliner Award in 2007. She as well won Alfred I. DuPont–Columbia University Award in 2008.
In 2010, 2011, and 2012, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Morning Program as part of the Today morning host lineup, Today. Hoda won a Webby Award for Online Film & Video – Public Service & Activism for her music video, “Truly Brave,” in 2015. She created the video in collaboration with Sara Bareilles and Cyndi Lauper. The aim of the video was to raise awareness for pediatric cancer.
In the same years, Hoda won an additional Gracie Award for Outstanding Host in News/Non-fiction. Hoda Kotb Breast Cancer
In 2008, a year prior to her divorce from her ex-husband Burzis Kanga, Hoda underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery for breast cancer in March 2007. Since then, she has become an advocate for breast cancer awareness. The Today cameras follow her throughout her cancer battle.
