Eric Braate is an American journalist and meteorologist. Currently, he works as a Meteorologist and Weather Executive Producer at the NBC-owned and operated WNBC 4, New York where he joined in August 2021. Previously, Eric served as a meteorologist and executive producer of weather at KPRC-TV, Graham Media Group in Houston, Texas.
He first moved to Houston to work at KPRC in December 2006. Later, he moved to sister station WDIV in Detroit in 2008. However, in 2011, Eric returned to Houston and KPRC which he says was a good move, and call Houston home. Before becoming a meteorologist, he was working as an engineer for six years and spent a lot of time in a plant or an office.
He decided he needed a change, so he sold his house, quit his job, and returned to college to earn a master’s degree in meteorology. In addition, he has completed over 30 marathons. He has also completed three IRONMAN triathlons, a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and full 26.2-mile marathon back-to-back.
