He was born and also raised in New York City to his loving and caring parents Myril Bennett and Joseph Axelrod. His mother worked at PM as a writer and advertising executive at Young & Rubicam. David’s father was a psychologist and avid baseball fan. His parents separated in 1963. Unfortunately, in 1977 his father committed suicide and suffered from severe clinical depression.
