In 2009, his contract with ESPN ended, allowing him to return to the Rangers, where he served as a radio broadcaster. On May 26, 2011, the Rangers announced that Dave would be replacing John Rhadigan as the Rangers’ television play-by-play announcer.
He never returned to the Rangers’ broadcast booth after the June 18, 2012 incident. On November 1, 2012, the Rangers issued a statement to the effect that they would not be renewing Dave’s contract, which had expired at the end of the 2012 season.
