Craig Laughlin ( Full name: Craig Alan Laughlin) is a Canadian-born former professional ice hockey right-wing. Currently, he serves as the color analyst for the Washington Capitals on NBC Sports Washington. As a youth, Craig played with a minor ice hockey team from Toronto in the 1970 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1977.
Prior to making it onto the Canadiens’ roster for part of the 1981–82 season, Craig played with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs of the American Hockey League, Montreal’s minor league affiliate for some years. He was traded with Doug Jarvis, Brian Engblom, and Rod Langway on September 7, 1982, in exchange for Ryan Walter and Rick Green to the Washington Capitals. Craig won a golden opportunity to establish himself as a full-time player with the Capitals.

Currently, he serves as the color analyst for the Washington Capitals on NBC Sports Washington. Craig’s contributions played a major role in guiding the Capitals to their first playoff appearance in team history. During his tenure with the Capitals, Craig served as a team ambassador often making appearances in the Washington, D.C. area to take grow the team’s footprint in the region.
On February 9, 1988, he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Grant Ledyard. Craig played the 1988–89 season for the Toronto Maple Leafs as his final season in the NHL. He would play one season for EV Landshut of the German Hockey League prior to his retirement from active play. In 549 NHL games, Craig scored 136 goals and had 205 assists.
Since his retirement from hockey, Craig has been serving as the tv color analyst for Capitals games. He joined the network in 1990 and paired with Joe Beninati. Also, Craig took part in many Capitals Alumni activities and is currently actively involved in charity work in the Washington, DC area.
