Eddie Olczyk ( Full name: Edward Walter Olczyk Jr) is an American journalist. He is a former center in the National Hockey League who played for 16 seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers,  Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Chicago Blackhawks. In 1994, Eddie won the Stanley Cup with the Rangers.

Also, he was the head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins from June 2003 to December 2005. On February 22, 2013, Eddie was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.  At 18 games in NHL history, Eddie was tied with Phil Kessel for the second-longest point streak by an American-born player. He achieved this in 1989- 1990, while with Toronto. However, Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks broke the recording during the 2015–2016 season.

On May 5, 2014, EA Sports announced that  Eddie would provide color commentary for NHL 15 where he would work along with play-by-play announcer Mike Emrick and also “Inside-the-Glass” reporter Ray Ferraro. The team provided commentary for every EA Sports NHL game until NHL 19 when Ferraro was made the new color commentator. In the 2018 and 2019 NHL seasons, the “Inside-the-Glass” reporter Brian Boucher joined Emrick, Eddie, and McGuire for big games.

Emrick retired at the end of the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals on October 19, 2020. From there, Eddie was paired with Kenny Albert and John Forslund for most of the regular season. However, he was teamed up with Albert for the playoffs and the Stanley Cup Final.  Albert and  Eddie joined TBS/TNT after the 2021 Final as their lead broadcast team. Currently, Eddie serves as a commentates on TNT and Chicago Blackhawks games on NBC Sports Chicago. However, he continues to work as Blackhawk’s primary color commentator.

On August 8, 2017, Eddie issued a statement via the Blackhawks to announce that he had been diagnosed with a form of colon cancer.  After the diagnosis, Eddie was subjected to a  surgical procedure to remove the tumor. In March 2018,  he announced that he had won the battle against the disease and was officially “cancer-free.”In October 2019, Eddie shared details of his fight with stage 3 colon cancer by releasing his autobiography titled “Eddie Olczyk: Beating the Odds in Hockey and in Life.”
