Christopher Joyce is a former American journalist, author, editor, and producer. He is a retired NPR Science correspondent and former U.S. editor of New Scientist magazine. Most recently, Christopher served as a correspondent on the science desk at NPR. He joined NPR in 1993 as a part-time editor. Prior to joining NPR, Christopher worked as the U.S. correspondent and editor for the British weekly magazine New Scientist for a period of ten years.
In 1999, his stories on forensic investigations into the massacres in Kosovo as well as Bosnia were part of NPR’s war coverage that won the network an Overseas Press Club award. In 2001, Christopher and his Radio Expeditions reporting and editing team won the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University journalism award, as well as the Sigma Delta Chi award, presented by the Society of Professional Journalists. Additionally, he won the 2001 American Association for the Advancement of Science excellence in journalism award.
