Deborah Leah Birx (popularly known as Dr. Debora Birx) is an American physician and diplomat. She specializes in vaccine research, HIV/AIDS immunology, and global health. She became globally known when she was appointed to the position of White House Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response Coordinator for the Trump Administration’s White House Coronavirus Task Force. Dr. Birx was appointed to the post by United States Vice-President Mike Pence on February 27, 2020.
