The church was launched in November 1995 by Andy. For the first three years of its existence, its congregation met in rented facilities and when the Olympics came, the congregation was unable to meet for nine good weeks. In December 1996, the church purchased an 83-acre site based in Alpharetta, Atlanta. The construction of the church kicked off six months later.
The first phase of the building included a 2,700-seat auditorium among other facilities. It was opened on September 27, 1998. By Christmas that year, attendance had grown more than 3,000. By the end of the first year, the church had more than 4,000 in worship. In 2001, the second phase of construction which consisted of a second auditorium with additional seating was completed. Currently, North Point can accommodate about 5,000 worshipers at a go.
