Susan Stamberg is an American radio journalist. She is a former co-host of NPR’s flagship program All Things Considered. In that role, Susan became the first female host of a national news broadcast. Now, Susan is considered one of NPR’s “Founding Mothers” along with the late Cokie Roberts, Linda Wertheimer, and Nina Totenberg. Currently, she serves as a Special Correspondent after almost five decades in media.
Susan’s reports appear weekly on NPR’s Morning Edition. From 1972, Susan served as co-host of the evening news magazine, All Things Considered, for 14 good years. This role made her the first woman to hold a full-time position as anchor of a national nightly news broadcast in the U.S. Susan won the Edward R. Murrow Award (CPB) for her work. Also, she hosted the Weekend Edition Sunday from 1987 until 1989. In 1994, Susan was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
