Will Shortz ( Full name: William F. Shortz ) is an American puzzle creator and editor. He currently serves as the crossword puzzle editor for The New York Times. The Crawfordsville, Indiana native was drawn to puzzles at a very tender age. In his 8th grade, Will wrote a paper which he called “Puzzles as a Profession” which earned him a B+. At the age of 13, Will wrote to Dmitri Borgmann, an American Language on Vacation author seeking advice on how to pursue a career in puzzles.

Will opened one of the largest table tennis clubs in the Northeast in Pleasantville in May 2011 along with Barbadian champion (and his long-time friend) Robert Roberts.
