Brown was engaged to comedian and actor Patrice O’neal at the time of his death. On the morning of October 19, 2011, O’Neal phoned Brown to tell her he could not move his legs. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center and later Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey, where doctors performed surgery to remove a blood clot in his head.
At 7:00 am on November 29, 2011, O’Neal died of complications from his stroke, which was caused by the type 2 diabetes he had since his early 20s. He was 41 years old.
