Travers has also won a National Headliner Award — one of the oldest and largest annual national awards recognizing journalistic merit. He and WDSU earned the award for spot news coverage. One of his ’ investigative stories was cited in 2015 as a key component in WDSU earning the national Walter Cronkite Award due to excellence in political journalism.
