Historic flooding for Central Louisiana not only forced Sherman to be in front of the camera for the first time but also caused him to connect with people on and off camera unlike he ever imagined.
From there he started storytelling that won several Associated Press awards – from a small documentary on the Cuban Prison Riots of 1987 to the story of a former drug dealer-turned substance abuse counselor. Sherman serves also as a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
