Tony Schwartz is an American business book author and journalist. He is best known for ghostwriting Trump: The Art of the Deal. Tony started his career as a writer in 1975. He spent 25 years working as a journalist. He served as a columnist for The New York Post, a reporter for The New York Times, associate editor at Newsweek, and staff writer at New York Magazine and Esquire.
Tony started interviewing Donald Trump in 1985 to ghostwrite Trump: The Art of the Deal (1987). He was credited as co-author in this book. According to Tony, Trump did not participate in writing the book but he choose only to remove a few critical mentions of business colleagues at the end of the process. Tony wrote What Really Matters: Searching for Wisdom in America in 1995.
In 1998, he co-authored Risking Failure, Surviving Success alongside Michael Eisner who was then the CEO of The Walt Disney Company. Tony joined a training company called LGE Performance Systems in 1999 where he served as President until 2003.
