That very year, Tom won five games for a Victoria team that lost out on the pennant by percentage points to the Walla Walla Padres. In 1980, the Mussels sold Candiotti to the Kansas City Royals, however, he never pitched for the Royals. In 1983, Tom won his very first four major-league starts with Milwaukee. However, in 1985 Tom signed with Cleveland. Tom also played for Toronto, and Blue Jays.
During his retirement, Tom was named among the top 100 in major-league history in starts and strikeouts. In 2001, Tom was ranked among the Top 100 Greatest Indians in Cleveland history. His best season as a professional baseball pitcher was working with Cleveland from 1985 to 1991.
