Ted Kaufman (Full Name: Edward Emmett Kaufman) is an American entrepreneur, who served on the Foreign Relations, Armed Services, Judiciary, and Homeland Security Committees. As of now, Kaufman works as a member of the board of trustees of the Institute of International Education. Kaufman is also co-chair of the Delaware STEM Council.

On November 24, 2008, Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner announced her intention to appoint Kaufman in order to replace Biden in the Senate. Kaufman became appointed on January 15, 2009, the same day Biden had resigned from his seat, and was sworn in the next day. He served in the Senate up to the time his successor, Chris Coons, became elected during a special election that happened in 2010 to finish out the term but suddenly he decided not to run for a full term. He also had inherited the two committees that Biden had served before resigning.
