Sean Astin ( Full name: Sean Patrick Astin) is an American actor, producer, and director. He is best known for playing Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy from 2001 to 2003, Mikey Walsh in The Goonies in 1985, Daniel Ruettiger in Rudy in 1993, Doug Whitmore in 50 First Dates in 2004, Bill in Click in 2006, and Lynn McGill in the fifth season of 24 in 2006.
Sean has also appeared as Oso in Special Agent Oso from 2009 to 2012, Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2012 to 2017, Bob Newby in the second and third seasons of Netflix’s Stranger Things in 2017 and 2019, as well as Ed in No Good Nick in 2019. Sean has won different recognitions including a Screen Actors Guild Award and two Young Artist Awards. Also, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1994 for the short film Kangaroo Court.
