Russ Mitchell ( Full name Russell Edward) is an American anchor and reporter. He currently serves as a lead anchor at WKYC ( NBC affiliate) based in Cleveland, Ohio. Russ is best known for his job at CBS. At the station, he served as the anchor of The Early Show on Saturday, news anchor for The Early Show on weekdays, as well as a weekend anchor of the CBS Evening News.
In December 2011, an announcement was made that Russ would leave CBS and become part of the WKYC news team based in Cleveland, Ohio. His new role there was to serve as a lead anchor, He assumed the role in January 2012. Russ has been honored with many local as well as national Emmys Awards.
