He overtook the running of The News after the death of his father in 1952 which was a small Adelaide newspaper owned by his father. His holding company News Corporation acquired Twentieth Century Fox in 1985, HarperCollins in 1989, and The Wall Street Journal in 2007. Moreover, he is accused of regularly hacking the phones of celebrities, royalty, and public citizens.
