Roz Varon Health | Cancer
In 2006, Roz found out that she had a lump under her arm. At that moment, she knew that it was a tumor but found it difficult to accept the reality. She was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes and liver. What scared her the most while dealing with breast cancer were thoughts of leaving her then 10-year-old daughter Sarah to grow up without a mother.
For her daughter’s sake, Roz got into fight mode and was determined to take control of her health and destiny. She turned her fear into strength to fight cancer and that’s exactly what she did. Roz underwent two rounds of chemotherapy. After undergoing various treatments, the tumors had shrunk notably, and by January 2007, the tumors were all gone.
However, in 2013, Roz was diagnosed with non-invasive cancer called DCIS, at Stage 0. This was after a mammogram discovered tiny calcifications in the same breast. Roz went again on the air and informed her viewers that she was fighting breast cancer once again and that she would be back on the air soon.
In order to treat cancer, Roz had a lumpectomy and took a few off. After the surgical site healed, she began radiation five days a week for seven weeks. During this whole time, she was still working while going for her radiation. The support she got from her family and friends was what kept her going.
Roz is currently in remission and continues to get annual mammograms, Herceptin treatments every four weeks as well as a sonogram every six months to monitor the liver. However, she will never be fully cured.
