In 2000 and 2013, he recieved Thomas Nast Award from the Overseas Press Club and also the National Headliner Award from the Press Club of Atlantic City in 1995 and 2019. In 2019, he was awarded an Emerson Fellowship from the Emerson Collective. Additionally, he recieved the Herblock Prize from the Herb Block Foundation and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in both 1999 and 2019.
