Rob Brydon ( Full name: Robert Brydon Jones MBE ) is a Welsh singer, actor, presenter, impressionist, comedian, and writer. He appeared as Dr. Paul Hamilton in the Australian/British comedy series titled Supernova. Also, Rob played Bryn West in the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey as well as Keith Barret in the BBC comedy series Marion.

In the latter’s spin-off The Keith Barret Show, he appeared as Geoff. Rob has presented the BBC One comedy panel show called Would I Lie to You? since 2009. Previously, he played himself as host of a fictional panel show in Rob Brydon’s Annually Retentive. The latter ran on BBC Three from 2006 to 2007.

He presented his own late-night chat show called The Rob Brydon Show for two years. Also, Rob hosted the 2014 Saturday-night game show called The Guess List for BBC One. In addition to that, Rob has appeared in notable films such as 24 Hour Party People, The Gruffalo, Cruise of the Gods,  The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and Holmes & Watson.

His mother, Joy Jones (née Brydon) served as a school teacher while his father, Howard Jones worked as a car dealer.  Rob grew up in Baglan alongside his younger brother Peter who was born in 1973. He has revealed that his primary childhood influences in comedy were Frankie Howerd, Barry Humphries,  and Woody Allen.  Rob has also said that he used to memorize entire sketches by Dudley Moore, Peter Cook, and Peter Sellers.

He studied at two independent schools. Rob joined St. John’s School in Porthcawl, which Eddie Izzard also attended. Later, he transferred to Dumbarton House School in Swansea. He studied there until he was 14. While at Dumbarton, Rob once stole the lunch money of fellow pupil Catherine Zeta-Jones.

He admitted the stealing while participating in a series 4 episode of Would I Lie To You. From there, Ron joined Porthcawl Comprehensive School. While there, he met Ruth Jones ( Later, the two worked in Gavin & Stacey) and became a member of the school’s youth theatre group.
