Richard Roberts ( Full name: Richard Lee Roberts ) is an American author and executive. He currently serves as the chairman and also the chief executive officer of the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association. Previously, Richard worked as the president of Oral Roberts University for fifteen years. Richard watched his father travel the United States and the globe as he conducted healing meetings.
His father would preach and pray for the sick as well and Richard, a very young boy witnessed everything. At times, parents were gone for periods as long as six weeks. At times, when school permitted, Richard could accompany his father on trips. On many occasions, he walked by his father’s side as his father prayed for people in the “invalid tent” and Richard always dreamed of having a healing ministry of his own.

They welcomed their first child called Richard Oral on January 17, 1984, after several miscarriages. However, Oral died 36 hours after birth after complications developed and he died. In 1985, the couple welcomed their son Jordan, Olivia in 1987, and Chloe in 1989. Richard has 3 grandchildren as well.

He graduated from Memorial High School in May 1966. Later, Richard went to further his studies at the University of Kansas, intending to study music. Richard worked at the famous Starlight Theater in Kansas City during the summer of his freshman year, Some of his performers included Shirley Jones. Apart from that, he worked in other nightclubs and also had been offered a contract to sing in Las Vegas.
At the University of Kansas, Richard fell ill and had to go to the hospital. When he went back home, a voice told him that he was in the wrong place and that he belonged at Oral Roberts University instead. So, the following year, he left Kansas and enrolled at ORU. In 1968, Richard dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and became part of his father’s ministry as a singer. He graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1985 with BA in communications. Also, Richard holds a master’s degree which he earned in 1992and a DMin degree since 2002.

As young as 5, Richard had his first public performance at an Oral crusade in Baltimore, Maryland. He stood on a chair to sing “I Believe.” Around the same time, his father started to teach him golf and that was the first time he swung the club. As a teenager, Richard started to pull away from involvement with his father’s ministry because of the negative press his father was receiving and also due to pressure from his father to sing at crusades.
Robert began pursuing other talents and interests eg singing. He learned to play the guitar and could perform around Oklahoma. By then, he started dreaming of a career as a nightclub singer in Las Vegas. In 1966, Richard played the lead in his high school’s production of The Sound of Music and was awarded a scholarship to Interlochen.
