Phil Parsons Racing
It was a NASCAR team that competed in the Nationwide Series as well as the Sprint Cup Series. It was owned by the eminent former NASCAR driver Phil and fielded the No. 98 Ford for Josh Wise most recently. Additionally, the team was formerly owned by Marcia, Phils’s wife, Stacey Humphrey, and Randy. Hence the initial name MSRP: Marcia, Stacey, Randy, and Phil.
Phil Parsons Racing was infamous for the first few years of its Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series operations for being a start and park organization. This meant that the team certified a car for races but in due course parked it after just a few laps to circumvent the costs of running a full race regardless of the car being excellently able to continue on.
MSRP continued with two Nationwide Series teams in 2009 and eventually completed a race while it also appended a Sprint Cup team under the Prism Motorsports name that certified for 30 races except it only completed two.
The whole team became recognized as Prism Motorsports after the season. Prism Motorsports had two Sprint Cup teams in 2010, No. 66, and No. 55 shepherded by drivers Dave Blaney and Michael McDowell that fielded Toyota Camrys under a technical alliance with MWR. In 2011, Prism Motorsports came back as HP Racing with McDowell and Gene Nead as the driver of the No. 66 Toyota and crew chief.
