Omid Kordestani ( Full Name: Omid R. Kordestani) is a popular Iranian-American businessman who is a chairman of the Board at Pearson plc. Before, Omid worked as the Executive Chairman at Twitter from October 2015 until June 2020 and as a board member of the company until October 2022. Omid was a Senior Vice President, the Chief Business Officer, and most lately a special advisor to the chief executive officer and founders at Google from July 2014 through October 2015 as well as a director of Vodafone from March 2013 until October 2014.
He had also formerly been at Google from May 1999 until April 2009, reaching the position of Senior Vice President for Worldwide Sales and Field Operations. He was one of the founders of the PARSA Community Foundation (2006–2011). Omid began his career in Silicon Valley as a Product Marketing Manager at HP, and later a series of start-up experiences at early smartphone innovator, GO Corporation, as well as interactive gaming company, 3DO. In 1995, Omid was one of the early employees at internet pioneer Netscape, finally leading Netscape’s sales and business development organization as a vice president.
