Nomar Garciaparra ( Full name: Anthony Nomar Garciaparra ) is an American former Major League Baseball player. He currently serves as a SportsNet LA analyst. Nomar played shortstop, third base, and first base for the Oakland Athletics, the Chicago Cubs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Prior to that, he played as an All-Star shortstop for the Boston Red Sox for parts of nine seasons and was one among the 13 players who hit two grand slams during a single game in Major League history. Nomar became the only player to achieve the feat at his home stadium. He was an All-Star in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2006.
In 1997, Momar was the AL Silver Slugger Award winner at shortstop and AL Rookie of the Year. He suffered a wrist injury in 2001 and this was the first injury in a series of significant injuries that plagued the rest of his career.
