Neil DeGrasse Tyson is an American science communicator, author, planetary scientist, and astrophysicist. He studied in three different universities i.e Harvard, Columbia, and the University of Texas at Austin. Neil was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University from 1991 to 1994.
He became part of the Hayden Planetarium in 1994 as a staff scientist as well as the Princeton faculty as a visiting research scientist and lecturer. Meil became director of the planetarium in 1996 and he oversaw its $210 million reconstruction project completed in 2000. Since 1996, Neil has been serving as the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space-based in New York City.
At the center, he founded the Department of Astrophysics in 1997. The same center is part of the American Museum of Natural History. Since 2003, Nail has been a research associate in the department. He wrote monthly essays in the “Universe” column from 1995 to 2005 for Natural History magazine. Later, some of those essays were published in his two books published in 2007 book titled Death by Black Hole, and Astrophysics for People in a Hurry.
Nail wrote a monthly column in StarDate magazine during the same period, answering questions regarding the universe under the pen name “Merlin.” Material from the column appeared in his 1998 books titled Merlin’s Tour of the Universe as well as Just Visiting This Planet.
