Ncuti Gatwa is a popular Rwandan-Scottish actor who rose to fame as Eric Effiong on the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–present), which gave him a BAFTA Scotland Award as the Best Actor in Television and three BAFTA Television Award nominations due to Best Male Comedy Performance.

In May 2022, Ncuti was reported to play what will be the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor on the BBC series Doctor Who, making him the first black actor to lead the series.
